I bring a diverse background in dressage and music to the art of dressage freestyle design. My education gives me the skill to edit music which is second to none.
Together, my audio engineer and I apply five university music degrees to your freestyle. I hold a BS in music from the University of Vermont and MM from UMass Amherst where I acted as Assistant Director of Bands on a full fellowship. I taught flute at the University of Mobile for a number of years and played principal flute in their orchestra. I've performed as soloist with many ensembles, including the Magnolia Chamber Orchestra and the Baldwin Pops.
While in graduate school at UMass, I studied dressage and eventing with Susan Blinks and Sarah Geikie during their tenures as Director of Riding. Other important teachers include Jos Sevriens and my mentor, Arlene Rigdon. I'm a graduate of the USDF "L" Education Program and judged dressage shows for many years. At my Woodwind Farm, I bred and trained Swedish Warmblood horses and also taught dressage lessons.
I've collaborated with David as my audio engineering specialist for most of my freestyle career and his understanding of dressage music production is matchless. David is a Professor of Music at the University of South Alabama where he is Director of the Music Theory and Technology program.
David received his BM and MM from the University of Florida and his DMA from the University of Alabama. David has designed or upgraded recording studios around the Southeast United States and records all musical programs at the university.
As composer and performing artist, David has presented his works to both national and international audiences.
Kevin handles video production and adds drum cues and other percussion to my freestyles. He edits video you provide into movies for each gait and syncs music samples for you to use in selection.
Kevin is a Computer Information Systems Lab Tech at Austin Community College and studio and club drummer in Austin, Texas. He has performed with literally hundreds of bands, including country and rock superstars, Willie Nelson and Steve Miller, and guitarist Eric Johnson.
Kevin has played on numerous freestyle music productions for Woodwind Studios. He understands musical requirements for different movements and how to rhythmically underscore the horse's movements.
