Imagine a symphony of sound, composed just for you and remembered by audiences only for your freestyle. Dramatize your horse's unique expression and highlight each step of your choreography with original music. Woodwind Studios dressage music composer, Dr. Roger Jones, offers you the realization of this dream in his superbly crafted original music for dressage freestyle. Dr. Jones' dressage music challenges and surpasses international standards in quality of composition, texture of orchestration, and nuanced production values.
Dr. Jones can compose for live or electronic orchestra. Musicians selected to play your music will include the best symphony musicians available. Music will be recorded in a sound studio for excellence in production quality. If you choose electronic music, you'll find your original freestyle music to be fully scored to include all the sounds heard in a modern symphony orchestra, with highly varied and interesting percussion to complement your horse's rhythmic movement. Your dressage freestyle music will be composed and orchestrated in much the same way as film music, in a style to fit the action the composer sees and the emotion felt in your choreographic design. Subtle refinements of musical style will change to suit each technical movement or repeat in mirror image movements for a unified stylistic sound.
Use of a "click track" allows great precision in tailoring each beat of music to fit your horse's footfalls, allowing you to maintain synchronization throughout your freestyle performance. Dr. Jones employs a sequencing program to create dynamically shaped electronic music, from soft to loud, and back again.
Today's electronic orchestra is vastly improved over older electronic sounds. These musical sounds have much more of an acoustic quality, as though played on orchestral instruments. Utilizing electronic sounds to full symphonic effect still requires the ability to compose and score for full orchestra, a skill brought to Woodwind Studios freestyle music by Dr. Roger Jones. It takes extra effort, and an educated and experienced composer, to "pad" electronic music to give it fullness and texture - by writing for such instruments as French horns, low clarinets, bassoons and cellos.
Woodwind Studios original music for dressage freestyle is composed to satisfy the most rigorous competitive standards and will take you successfully to the highest levels of national and international competition.
Because of potential copyright infringement, Dr. Jones does not arrange familiar melodies for use in musical freestyle. His composition is entirely original and unique to your freestyle performance. If you prefer popular music arrangements, see the Studio Recording page.
You can design your own choreography or work with Beth Hall to create your choreographic plan.
Here's how it works: Send us a DVD of your freestyle choreography, our design or your own. Dr. Jones will compose music samples for your approval. Once you approve the samples, short segments will be engineered for you to try and then adjustments made to the music. Finally, a complete musical score will be created to match the DVD of your choreography.
Prices start from $5,000 for music performed on synthesizer and $10,000 if you add orchestra musicians.
